#4 GENDER STEREOTYPES: MTV stereotypes

It's very common for the entertainment industry to portray women to be sexual objects. One of the largest American entertainment channels, MTV, is known to show media that attracts a young audience. A study shows how MTV's influence over young audiences has a large effect on American societies, creating an even bigger gap between generations. MTV shows women as sexual objects by filming them wearing revealing clothing, being flirtatious, and relying on their physical attractiveness. By constantly showing women as objects, this makes young audiences look at the women on tv and compare them to women in real life. MTV has been supporting gender stereotypes by influencing people to believe women serve no better purpose other than sex.
