#10 GENDER STEREOTYPES: U.K prohibits commercials with gender stereotypes
In 2017, the U.K decided to prohibit commercials with gender stereotypes to combat sexism in the media. Commercials have always been a huge issue adding to the gender stereotype and sexism issue because many commercials show women to be domestic. Although commercials are short clips, their message is a lot larger than most people think. Often times we remember brands and companies because of their commercials, and we make our purchases based off of them. They influence us more than we realize and this includes influencing the way we see people. The U.K leads the rest of the world in minimizing sexism in the media by banning commercials that show gender stereotypes to sell products.
