#8 GENDER STEREOTYPES: Recent study about Hollywood scripts

A study was done reviewing 1,000 scripts of American films to look at gender roles in the current movies. Although movies such as Girls Trip, Wonder Woman, and Hidden Figures came out recently to support female empowerment, Hollywood still hasn't changed much over the years when it comes to stereotypes. The researchers claim that old gender stereotypes are still present in films today. Also, they discovered that out of the 1,000 scripts reviewed, there are 7 times more male scriptwriters than there are women. Another interesting thing they discovered is women are less likely to show negative emotions, such as anger in films whereas men are.
